How to play Pet the Cat

Each deliberate brushing stroke earns one point. The cat gives an ear warning for at least 650 milliseconds before watching. Hold still until it looks away: moving while watched ends your round. Survive for up to 45 seconds and see how many pets you can sneak in.

  1. Show one hand and brush across the cat to earn one point per stroke.
  2. Watch for the ear warning, then hold still while the cat is watching.
  3. Pet for up to 45 seconds. Moving while watched ends the round early.

Before your next round

How do I pet the cat?

Start the camera and show one hand. Brush across the cartoon cat in deliberate strokes. Each stroke earns one point; holding your hand still on the cat does not score.

When should I freeze?

Watch the cat's ears for a warning before it looks at you. Stop moving and hold your hand still while it watches, then resume petting when it looks away.

Can I use a mouse or keyboard to pet?

A webcam and hand movement are required to play. Buttons start or retry a round, but mouse clicks and keyboard presses do not pet the cat.

Does my camera video leave my device?

No. Camera frames and hand landmarks are processed in your browser. If you choose to save a score, numerical gameplay inputs are sent for score validation; your camera images and landmarks are not. Read about camera privacy.

Do I need a subscription?

No. Playing, creating a game profile, and saving arcade scores are free. A modern browser is needed for the cartoon game. A webcam is required to play.
